I am in a class at Santa Monica College, and we are trying to create a mural, possible of cob, to beautify the campus and educate people about green building. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any input, seriously.

Tue, April 24, 2007 - 1:33 AMHere ya go Sarah. nontraditionalhousing.tribe.net/th...924
Feel free to post your question there, plus there are 32 or so posts on cob on this thread. There are other cob threads in the same tribe as well. Tribe's search engine isn't working, so just go page by page in the Non-Traditional Housing tribe, and some other cob threads will turn up.

Sun, December 23, 2007 - 9:50 PMwell to make cob you need to go to a quarry and ask for clay filler, then you need to go to a garden supply place and get sand...it needs to be bigger grains of sand then the stuff you find on beaches, then you get straw and you mix it in a 2:1 ratio 2 being sand, 1 being clay, i can send you samples of the stuff i use if you want an idea of what to look for at these places. its really cool stuff and its easy to make things with, only problem is it will have strands of straw coming out of it, its not all smooth, You will need a pick up truck, to transport the materials to your mixing site, you will need tarps to mix the cob in, and if you want a lesson in mixing it i can explain that too or send a video
